Story

Hi guys, thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I ran the 2009 London Marathon to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust and completed the 26.2 miles in 4 hours 50 minutes.  It was a really hot day which made the last 10 miles seem an eternity, but after overcoming some cramp in the last 3 miles with the last episode just outside Buckingham palace; I finally managed to run last 200 metres and crossed the line ahead of my 2003 time.  A big thanks to the St John's ambulance team who sorted me out in Birdcage Walk and the groups of spectators who gave me encoragement and cheered me on.

Along with my sister Dolores, we had our set  sights on raising at least £1500 each and and did a number of fundraising events and gigs over the last few month to attract sponsorship and receive donations.  Our joint target was to beat £3000. With the help of our brother Pat and his wife Elaine who raised £1250 from a charity gig in Bournemouth, it looks like we have raised just over £4500 which is a superb amount and one which we are very proud of.

I completed the London Marathon back in 2003 and said never again but here I am having completed it again in 2009.  The reason is simple, MS affects 85000 in the UK and 25 years ago it claimed the life of my eldest sister Angela.  I ran the 2009 London marathon for the MS trust, in memory of my big sis Ange and for Dolores who's bright idea made this all happen but who unfortunately could not run the marathon herself on medical grounds.   On this occasion I lived the dream for her and was very proud to do so.

So a very big thank-you to each and every one of you who personally sponsored me or who donated to this worthy cause and no I will not be doing it again!
