We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

Hi all

I'm planning to run the London Marathon in April 2009 - mad I know but all for a worthwhile cause....

In October 2008, we received the devastating news that our beautiful little boy Callum  2 has a brain tumour.   Since Callums tumour was diagnosed he has had to have 3 major brain operations and has spent more then a month in hospital. He has also had a lot of day visits and appointments. All the operations were successful and Callum is now home and doing really well, however, part of the tumour remains and if it grows again he may need another operation or radiotherapy . This tumour has opened a whole can of worms for Callum and he will be on medication for the rest of his life and have numerous hospital visits.

Being in hospital for all this time with Callum really made me sit back and realise what fantastic work GOSH really do, none of which you think about unless your faced with your own personal nightmare.  The surgeons and nurses who looked after Callum were amazing and we are grateful that he was treated in the best childrens hospital in the world.

This is the inspiration for me to run the London Marathon and try to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH)

All money donated will definitely be going to a very good cause where miracles really do happen.

I will be doing this marathon in full firefighting gear, bar my helmet so please give generously.

Update : 27th April (day after marathon) . MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

What a fantastic experience this marathon was, with a dodgy knee and in firegear i completed this marathon in 5 hrs 22 mins. For every1 that has donated my family and i really appreciate it. This page will remain open till the 26th July 2009 so you can still donate anytime upto then. See you on the next challenge!
