Story
Thanks to everyone who donated towards my leg waxing. We raised over £200 and my legs became hairless. For proof, check out the video!
I am now just a couple of hundred pounds away from my target. Please keep supporting - almost there!
In June 2010, I will be cycling from London to Paris over three days in a charity challenge raising funds for RNID, the largest UK charity working with hearing loss and hearing health. It is the charity that I now work for and the work it does is absolutely incredible - everything from biomedical research into the causes of deafness to running a free information line, running care homes and campaigning on a range of issues including access to lipreading classes (that's me at the moment!) and removing the stigma of deafness.
Around nine million people in the UK are deaf or hard of hearing - that equates to one in seven of the population! This is a huge issue that will affect so many people at some point in their lives.
To suggest that this is a 'challenge' is a huge understatement. Not only am I quite unfit but I have not even sat on a bike for many years. To do the 300km from London to Paris is going to be one of the toughest things I have ever done. I will be training over the next few months and any donations that come in will help keep me motivated to do this.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please note that I have personally made a contribution towards the cost of doing this challenge but some of the costs will be coming from money I raise. However the rest will be going to this amazing charity.
Thank you for any contribution that you do make. It really will go a long way!
