The 100 mile cycle I've crazily decided to do will take me from Marple to Chester and back again all in one day! I'll be doing the cycle with a group of friends for what will be a challenging but fun day, and one that should raise lots of money for charity. I'll be raising money for the Raynauds & Scleroderma Association, a national charity that offers support for patients and carers of the condition. My Dad has the condition, hence why I've chosen this particular charity. For those of you unfamiliar with these conditions, Raynauds affects blood supply to the extremities and Scleroderma is a disease that affects the immune system, blood cells and tissue. Scleroderma is the more serious of the two conditions and results from the body producing too much collagen, which causes the skin and organs to become thickened and hard. Depending on the patient and treatment, symptoms can be mild or life-threatening.
