Story
Walking Through the Night on 19th May 2007.....At midnight, on Saturday 19th May, I shall be walking 26.2 miles across London, all through the night, taking part in the 2007 Playtex Moonwalk to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against Breast Cancer.
Training in the Cold, Rain, Wind & Snow....I've been training since November 2006. After months of training in the cold, rain, wind and snow, I would really appreciate your sponsorship to help me get to that finishing line! Way back then, I told myself that if I ever reached the part in the training program where I had to walk 16 miles, then I might have a fair chance of walking the distance. Well, last weekend, I walked 17 miles in 4 hours and 41 minutes. I could barely breathe afterwards, but I did it.
No Man's Land After 20 Miles.......The rigorous training schedule only ever takes you to a distance of 20 miles before the night of the marathon itself. On the night, that last 6.2 miles is completely untested territory: I have no idea whether I can walk that far. I have no doubt that the added pressure of sponsorship will really help me get to that finishing line in Hyde Park in the early hours of the Sunday morning.
Thank you so much for helping....If your lives have ever been touched by this dreadful disease; or if you would simply like to donate to the fight against Breast Cancer and wish to support fellow school parent at the same time, then please make your pledges and donations here.
With love from Anita Angell. THANKYOU!!! xxxx
PS If you know anyone else who might wish to sponsor me, then please do email/direct them to this page on my behalf - I would be so grateful- or ask me for an extra form: I'll try to always carry a spare copy - every little bit helps. xx A.
PPS A really big 'Thankyou' to my support team, ie Richard, Harry & Ellen. Harry has turned into my main training partner and is currently sporting some hefty blisters to show for it (sorry about those cheap shoes, Harry). Highlights? Over Easter, definitely. Walking almost the entire length of the the Isle of Wight with Harry, dropping down into Freshwater Bay as the sun went down. Wow!
Little Ellen - who once jogged all the way with me to Horsham (some 6.2 miles), just so I could get my training in that day.
And Richard, who has thought up ever more devious ways to look after my safety, keep me company and allow me time to get all that walking and prep done. And for thinking clearly enough to start me off with those excellent shoes. THANKYOU.
