Story
Thanks for making the time to visit this page.
I have now completed the swin. Left Hurst Castle at about 6.30am 4th September arriving in Colwell Bay 44 minutes later. Coming in a very close second (3seconds). Thank you so much for your support.
More donations gratfully received.
As you probably know our eldest daughter, Rose, has a severe and life threatening allergy to nuts and sesame. We have known about Rose's allergy since she was a baby and have found great support, advice and comfort from the Anaphylaxis Campaign .
As a keen swimmer, lover of the water and Islander, I thought it was about time I took it upon myself to get home on my own and without the use of the ferry. So to raise funds for this great organisation, I am going to swin across the West Solent from the Mainland (Hurst Castle) to the Island (Colwell Bay) about 2.5km.
Training is going well with a number of open water swims in the Solent to get used to the waves and current - and hopefully the water temperature.
Just got a good swimming wetsuit - which was tested at the weekend and makes life much better. Very much looking forward to the swim - starting Saturday 6am from Hurst. With aim to get to Colwell about an hour later. Look out for the bright pink swimming cap !
Please give generously to support me in supporting this great charity.
Thanks
Anna
