We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  This year I have decided to up the miles so am going for my first half marathon - yes that really is 13 and a bit miles - so am doing the Great North Run on 20th September.

My chosen charity is Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.  Hearing Dogs are free to deaf people as each dog is sponsored by a group or company happy to raise the £5,000 needed for its training and life-long aftercare and support...but to a deaf person it makes the difference between a potentially lonely and insecure existence to a busy, enjoyable and fulfilled life.  Wherever possible, dogs are used from rescue centres so in effect you're helping both people and dogs.

You can find out more at www.hearingdogs.org.uk

I know times are hard at the moment, but just a few pence per mile would make a big difference - and encourage me to train harder!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hearing Dogs For Deaf People gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now if you can!

About the charity

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.
