Starting in a cold Janurary morning, two innocent,naive, ambitious St Andrews students will close their eyes, stick their thumbsout, and hope for the best.  With the fabled ruin bars of Budapestbeckoning them across Europe they will utilise all their skills; Hendrik'sGerman efficiency and Felix's English charm. Having spent their first term of universitybeing battered by the cold, North Sea wind of St Andrews, they've becomeaccustomed to the harsh climates of northern Europe. Long nights are no longera problem, endless social interaction a daily occurrence, and on a studentbudget, not spending money on travel has become the norm...although let's behonest, these boys are at St Andrews where the longest walk is, at best, 15minutes.

The charities Race2Budapest is fundraising for are thefollowing:

We are both truly thrilled to have been given thisopportunity. All three charities work tirelessly throughout the year, and theirwork often goes unnoticed for the time and effort they put in. It is our hopethat this adventure will contribute to helping them raise both awareness andfunds.

£150 OR MORE - The Ultimate Prize. Hendrik and Felix would like to thank thosewho donate this amount with a special gift. Along the way, they will take aselfie with those who kindly take them further to Budapest. They will then mapout their route of Europe, attaching these photos to the map and send it to youwith a letter of thanks.


- These boys are up for almost anything, but please be aware their main aim isto reach Budapest and therefore these challenges cannot be anything that willprevent them finishing.

******UPDATE*******

One of the main questions Hendrik and Felix have been asked while raving about their upcoming adventure is how they will leave the sacred lands of Britain. Thanks to the amazing generosity of DFDS Seaways (English site see www.dfdsseaways.co.uk and for the German site see www.dfds.de), they have been given a free trip from Newcastle to Amsterdam. This is a massive relief for the boys as although Hendrik would undoubtably be up for a few miles swim in the North Sea, Felix would not be. The boys will have two days to get to Newcastle in order to get the 17:00 ferry to Amsterdam.

An einem kalten Morgenim Januar, keine Menschenseele auf den Beinen, doch siehe da:
zwei unschuldige und naive Studenten stehen zitternd am Straßenrand, daraufhoffend, dass jemand den herausgestreckten Daumen beachtet und aus Mitleid anhält.
In ihren Gedanken habe beide das gleiche vor Augen: BUDAPEST - die edle Stadtan der Donau. Doch der Weg wird den beiden Gefährten alles abverlangen. Mit derdeutschen Effizenz von Hendrik and dem Charm eines wahren englischem Gentlemans(ja, hier ist Felix gemeint) gilt es nicht nur an das Gewissen der Mitmenschenzu appelieren, sondern auch darum die Natur zu besiegen.
Vorbereitet sind beide durch das raue Klima, dem starken Winden und den kühlenTemperaturen Schottlands, wo Hendrik und Felix nun ihr erstes halbes Jahr ander Universität verbracht habem. Lange Nächte gehören zum Studentenlebeneinfach dazu, genauso wie der täglichen Umgang mit Menschen, mit 250 Leuten ineiner Unterkunft zu leben, erzwingt so etwas. Was auch zum Studentenleben gehört,ist das knappe Budget, was jetzt noch einmal gekürzt wird und zwar genau auf0€!

Wobei sind wir wirklich gut vorbereitet auf die Welt da draußen? In St. Andrewsist schließlich der längste Fußmarsch um die 15 Minuten.

£150 oder mehr (210€) - Der ultimative Preis. Hendrik und Felix schätzen jede Spende, doch der Person, die diese Summe spendet, bekommt den besten Preis von allen. Während unserer Reise werden wir ein Foto mit allen Leuten aufnehmen,die uns freundlicherweise mitnehmen. Dann kommen diese Fotos auf eine Karteinklusive unserer genauen Route und das wird dann zu dir nach Hause geschickt.Handsigniert und einzigartig!

- Ihr kennt uns - wir machen eigentlich alles. Behaltet jedoch im Kopf, dassunser Hauptziel ist nach Budapest zu kommen, deshalb sollte keine Aufgabe unsdaran hindern nach Budapest zu gelangen
