Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Auto Trader's LGBT+ Network are taking part in the 2.6 challenge to raise money for the Proud Trust and all money raised will be matched by Auto Trader.

What is the 2.6 challenge?

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events.

Many charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most; thousands of staff have been placed on furlough and many charities will not survive the next few months.

We will be doing our 2.6 challenges on Friday 15th May, this can be any kind of challenge or activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26.
This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, to gardening for 26 minutes. There are no rules – apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time.

The Proud Trust is a life saving and life enhancing organisation that helps LGBT+ young people empower themselves, to make a positive change for themselves, and their communities. They do this through youth groups, coordinating national and regional LGBT+ youth work networks, managing the LGBT+ Centre for Manchester, delivering of training, running events and campaigns, undertaking research and creating resources

Like many charities, the Proud Trust is at risk as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and our LGBT+ safe spaces need protecting for the 11,000 children & young people they support each year.  They have assessed needs and adapted quickly, and their LGBT+ Centre, all their youth groups and one-to-one support have gone ‘virtual’ to ensure they can continue to offer their life-saving work.

Sadly, due to some LGBT+ children & young people living in homophobic/biphobic/transphobic families, or who live independently with limited incomes, they are also now having to redirect funding to cover essential care items and increased virtual support by their staff.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
