We provide support to people affected by AS to change and improve lives for the better.

Story

I'll be taking part in a 10km sponsored walk - NASS en Masse - in Richmond Park on Sunday 9 May - and I'd love it if you could support me in this!

Why am I taking part in this event, when there are so many others to choose from? Because...
- Richmond Park is beautiful, and I should really spend more time there
- A Sunday in May will hopefully have semi-decent weather
- Registering for an event is about the only way I force myself to exercise :)
- It's very likely that I have Ankylosing Spondylitis (see below) and
- NASS is a charity well worth supporting...

Many of you know that I have had numerous problems with eye inflammation (uveitis) over the last 5 or so years. In the last year, this inflammation has spread to my spine, and it's likely that I will end up with a diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) in the near future. I'd therefore like to support any and all research which may come closer to finding a cure or developing treatments which lead to durable remission, both for myself and for the many others who suffer with AS!!

NASS (National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society) is the only registered charity in the UK focusing solely on Ankylosing Spondylitis. They provide up to date information on research, treatment and management of AS, which is a painful, progressive inflammatory disease. AS mainly affects the spine, although other joints, tendons or ligaments can be affected. Other areas such as the eyes, lungs, bowels or heart may also be involved.

Thank you for your support - every little helps and allows NASS to provide support to so many others.

About the charity

NASS is only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with axial spondyloarthritis (AS), a painful, progressive rheumatic disease which mainly affects the spine. An estimated 200,000 people live with AS in the UK. Our 90+ branches across the UK offer regular exercise to anyone with AS.
