It only takes one jibe to spur many of us into action. So, when a corpulent Brent Dolan made an unflattering comment about my ever expanding waistline, it resulted in the pair of us having a bet on who could lose most weight by Cheltenham.

Over the next eight weeks I managed to lose 21 pounds which staggered me. (He claims he lost the same amount but I still win the bet because my percentage loss was greater than his!)

At the start of the contest we decided that we would try to get sponsored to raise funds for this excellent charity.
