WE DID IT! Both Blaise and Benedict completed the challenge. Benedict had plenty of time to spare. Blaise was just 2 minutes within the 24 hours! 30 others in the party also completed it in time. 5 more took a further hour and 2 people retired, unable to continue.
Thank you again to everyone who has sponsored us. We will update the site again when we find out the total raised by the whole group.

At 4pm on Saturday 7th July, father and son, Blaise and Benedict Cardozo, will join about 30 family and friends to attempt the Three Peaks Challenge: to climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. Ben Nevis comes first followed by a drive through the night and Scafell Pike at dawn. Then comes another drive and Mount Snowdon to complete the challenge.
The reason for all this effort is to raise money for Ataxia UK. Three of Benedict’s young cousins have been diagnosed with Friedriech’s Ataxia, a rare disorder which affects about 1,500 people in the UK. This progressive genetic condition will put them in wheelchairs in their teens and severely shorten their life expectancy. It is already beginning to change their lives. The longer nerves are the first to deteriorate leading to loss of control of legs and arms. The middle child, Lale, also suffers from curvature of the spine but is still able to draw – the picture top left is hers. Her older brother Jack and younger brother Orlando are the other two sufferers in a family of 6 children.
One of the aims of Ataxia UK is to support research. Although there is no cure yet, there are several exciting areas of research around the world. They are in need of funds, so please give as generously as you can. Thank you.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Ataxia UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
