Arsenal has chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity as their Charity of the Season for 2009/2010.
The partnership aims to raise £500,000 to help the hospital build a new lung function unit for children who have difficulty breathing or sleeping. These problems can be present in children who have many different types of conditions including cystic fibrosis, cancer, asthma or those in need of bone marrow transplants. Visit www.beagoonerbeagiver.org to find out more about the partnership.
The work undertaken at ’s Lung Function Unit is amongst the best in the world. However, the laboratory space is far from ideal with cramped and outdated facilities. The new unit has been designed to provide a well planned, modern and spacious environment in which to treat children and their families. It will help newborn babies right through to teenagers with areas designed specially for patients to include play facilities. The new Lung Function Unit will be located within the new clinical building at and will open in 2012.
