We support people with sickle cell disease to improve their overall quality of life

Story

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells. People with sickle cell disease have red blood cells that contain mostly haemoglobin* S, an abnormal type of haemoglobin. Sometimes these red blood cells become sickle-shaped (crescent shaped) and have difficulty passing through small blood vessels.

Sickle cell anaemia is a terrible disease which has affected the lives of countless people within the black community.  We must do everything we can to find a cure and ensure that in the future no child has to endure the awful pain that is often associated with its diagnosis.

Medical science is developing new treatments and therapies to tackle Sickle cell disease, so that those who have it can not only live longer, but also live a healthier, pain free and more fulfilling life. Your donation will continue to support these efforts and ensure that one day our community can say goodbye to this disease forever
