Story

17th May 2009 - The "Fun" Run Day

Time flys when you're having fun - I'm not so sure if that is the correct analogy for running 5km, but it didn't seem to take as long as I thought it would.  I managed it in 23 minutes - at least that's what Phil told me as my time keeper.  I honestly thought I would struggle far more, but focusing on a TA runner helped me to get around the course in the same time as him (ok, granted he was carrying a 25kg backpack!)!!  I certainly wasn't the last, but sadly wasn't first either - highly unlikely to every happen!

Anyway, now I've managed it - I focused on thinking about all of you who have generously donated money to motivate me as I creaked around the course.  Then when I really thought I might just collapse, I focused on Ben and what a wonderful little boy he is - it worked!!  I only walked a couple of times and only for a minute at a time.

THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN FOR HELPING ME TO REACH SUCH A GREAT TARGET - I think by the time I have collected the last few off line pledges I should get to around £750 - triple what I set out to achieve!!

Thank you all!

13th May 2009

Well, I've been training for a grand total of a week and a half - and the run itself is only 4 days away - I can feel another run coming on tonight!!  I'm so thrilled that I've exceeded my original target of £250.  £500 is now very possible so must send out a quick reminder to my friends & colleagues to hopefully find the last few pennies - just need to get £1 per person and I will be well over my revised target :)

5th May 2009

Benjamin was born with an Exomphalos (his liver and tummy were outside his body).  He was operated on before he was even 24 hours old.  Without Southampton Hospital, in particular Mr Burge and his team, Ben wouldn't be here today.

Ben is the most wonderful little boy and makes every day just amazing for both Phil and I.  Help us to help other Mummies and Daddies to have an incredible child too.

I would like to raise enough money to buy a cot for the Special Care Baby Unit - Ben needed a cot once he was ready to leave the incubator, but the staff had to hunt around Princess Anne (the Maternity Hospital) to source one as there were so few available.

You can find out more about Benjamin when he was born by visiting his very own blog - http://www.clark-baby.blogspot.com/
