We offer care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer

Story

Betty Westgate was an amazing woman who, when diagnosed with breast cancer in 1968, recognised the need for an organisation giving non-medical help and post-operative information.  Since it did not exist she set one up herself and in 1994 the name of Betty's organisation became Breast Cancer Care, a charity that has made a huge difference to women going through a diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.

We have named our team Betty's Babes in honour of this remarkable lady who died ten years ago this year and on October 17th we will be taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon.  Those of us who can no longer run will walk to raise both funds and the profile of Breast Cancer Care, a charity we all feel passionate about.

(Our team has now grown to such an extent that we have too many names to fit into the team members section of our page so here we all are:

Sue Youngman, Catrin & Mel Lewis, Julia Roberts, Andrew & Ana Youngman, Simone Ridley, Katie Bampfield, Gaynor Sinton, Megan Harris, Meinir Harris, Nerys Fychan, Meinir Davies, Karyl Davies, Liz Kenny, Carwen Williams, Angela Jones, Eirlys Braddock, Eryl Evans, Karen Pritchard, Lesley Heirene, Viv Gelder, John Evans, Paul Kipling, Hilary Hopkins,  Rowena & Bob McArtney, Chris Young, Sally Westwell, Mandy Brazier, Diane Williams, Kath Crimmins, Gaynor Willyman, Judy Gibbons, Lianne Morse, Colette Rees, Angela Jordan, Karen Lloyd-Lewis and Samantha Fry).

We all dream of a cure for cancer and a time when this terrible disease is eradicated but today and every day until then at least 120 women will be given the devastating news that they have breast cancer.  They and their families and friends need our support (last year alone nearly 3 million people used Breast Cancer Care's services).  Please help us to help them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
