Story
After 12 years of binge drinking (and an especially heavy last two months) I decided that maybe I should try being teetotal for a couple of months in order to give my liver, waist, wallet and sanity a bit of a rest.
An idle threat became reality when a mate made it in to a bet. It was shaken on, and so here we are...other people seemed willing to bet against me completing the two months without a drop of alcohol, so i thought it only fitting that I should try and raise some money for charity out of it.
Out of a short list of four charities (please do check them out)
Medical Foundation for the care of victims of torture
I finally chose The Pebbles Project, because it is related to alcohol, it helps children and a guy I know at work is a Director, so hopefully all the money will be used wisely. The website will be a lot better than me at explaining the reasons behind the charity and where the money goes: www.pebblesproject.co.za
If you don't want to donate, no worries, but if you could look at the charities mentioned above that would be great.
I've also set up a bit of a blog to keep tabs on how i'm getting on - http://2monthsteetotal.blogspot.com
Cheers
Simon
