5 members of BJP Insurance Brokers are taking on the gruelling Coast to Coast bike ride challenge. Cycling the 140 or so miles from Whitehaven to Sunderland to raise money for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance !

Day One – 53 miles

Leaving Whitehaven harbour, we’ll be following the Rowrah cycle path that links the sea to the fells of the Lake District, with climbs up to over 300 meter above sea level, as we head towards our lunch stop at Keswick, 31 miles away. After lunch the climbs continue as we cycle the remaining 22 miles to our over night stop in Penrith.

Day Two – 33 miles or 44 miles

The second day, will no doubt be the hardest, as we leave the bunkhouse in Penrith and head off towards Allenheads or push on further to Stanhope. This is a real king of the mountains day as we have 3 major climbs over 550 meters!!! We have the two finish points for the day at either Allenheads or Stanhope depending on how we get on. But the aim is to reach Stanhope by the close of play on day two.

Day Three – 37 miles

If we make it to Stanhope at the end of day two, it makes day three pretty much down hill from about 480 meters above sea level to the promenade in Sunderland. Hopefully stopping for a bit of lunch and a beer in Stanley.
