We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

My name is Francesca myself and my two cousins Dina and Maddalena have organised a "Blackpool memory walk" in memory of our dear uncle Eugenio Luigi Chiappe and Maddalenas Nonna Luigina Vettese.

As a family we have had a vast experience with Dementia as it has had an increasing impact upon our family with several family members who have had Dementia, we want to ensure that people have the best care in hospital and know what support and services they have available to them locally.

Dementia care is very close to our hearts ❤️

Myself and Dina are nurses and Dementia Champions at Blackpool Victoria hospital on and see every day the effects of dementia on patients and their families, we see how simply a different environment can help calm patients and keep them from being distressed with resources such as memory boxes, books and our wonderful memory corridor.

Also how specialist training can be given to ensure patients with dementia feel safe and well cared for during their stay in hospital.

The Memory walk will take place on Sunday 15th of May
2016 start time 1pm.

Follow the dementia champions from Teambutterfly on twitter @teambutterfly0 for updates.

The starting point will be the Glitter ball on Blackpool
promenade and the finish will be the famous comedy carpet opposite Blackpool Tower. The walk takes approximately 50 minutes - an hour depending on how many selfies you take! Wheelchair access is available and the walk is dementia friendly.
Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult and pets welcome too :)

Everybody is welcome to join the walk those with dementia their
carers, staff from the hospital, friends, family & anyone with an interest
in Dementia and charity.

We do ask that if possible you wear a Alzheimer's society
t-shirt these are available online Or at least something Blue or green
which links with the colour theme of the memory walk.

We will also be encouraging all those who take part in
the walk to become a Dementia friend by registering online or attending there nearest session.

We would love to see as many teams as possible from Blackpool locals on the day anybody can enter its free we just ask that you make a donation to the charity online or in the collection buckets
on the day and if you wish collect sponsors.

The " I'm walking for cards " will be available
on the day (see photos) these cards pin to your t-shirts so people can see who you are walking in memory for and will be given out for a small donation.

You could walk for somebody with Dementia or who had Dementia or simply in memory of somebody you miss dearly.

It will be a lovely day fingers crossed we have some sun!

Get your selfie sticks at the
ready and raise as much as you can for this amazing charity.

And don't forget to add gift aid
:) at no extra cost to you x

Many thanks Francesca, Maddie and Dina xxx
