We did it!!! It took 11 hours and 30 minute including breaks to walk the 28 miles of the Medway Valley Path... Generally warm and sunny but windy and wet during the last couple of miles.... A huge thank you to friends who turned out to accompany us for part of the walk and/or provide moral support.....
For those who did not know Stephen he died just before Christmas 2007, without warning, from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML); he had just turned 18. Stephen was a kind and caring person who would go the extra mile to help others and his brother and dad (thats me!) wanted to recognise this by doing something to help others affected by Leukaemia and other blood cancers. Before Stephen died we had heard of “Leukaemia” but had no idea of the number of different types, or the aggressiveness of the cancer and the treatments required to control it, for example, there are eight sub-types of AML and it can kill within six weeks. There is ongoing research to improve diagnosis, treatment regimes and
support, so that fewer children, young persons and adults succumb to
this disease in the future but the costs involved in this are huge!
Talking about huge.... a HUGE "thank you" to everyone who has sponsored us so far, however big or small... we will keep this page active so that others can still support us... We want to make particular mention of the support received from Chatham South School and Chatham Grammar School for Boys - a big thank you to the staff, students and governors for helping us to help others.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s
also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research gets your
money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in
Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you
