Story
Ray's journey began a year ago when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 B-cell Lymphoma. Following 2 unsuccessful chemotherapy treatments, he underwent 14 days of radiation therapy to reduce the size of the tumours in order to make the CAR T-Cell infusion therapy more effective in fighting cancer cells. Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally is buying Linear Accelerator Radiotherapy Machine (LINAC) to bring radiation therapy to an underserved population in rural India. In Canada, we are fortunate to have this treatment readily available. Motivated by our neighbours who, upon returning from India, highlighted the need for radiation therapy in rural India, we decided to help raise the necessary funds to purchase a LINAC for the Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre (SNHRC). This machine is similar to the one used in Ray's treatment. Due to Ray's progress in his treatment, he aims to regain enough strength to participate in the 5K Walk. Ray and his supporters are doing the virtual challenge. The efforts of Ray and other supporters of Canadians Sharing will help raise the necessary funds to procure lifesaving equipment for SNHRC, a charitable hospital serving a needy region in India.
