LloydsTSB International Banking is committed to raising £100,000 in 2008 to assist Opportunity International in making loans to groups of individuals in Ghana as away of giving them "a hand up rather than a hand-out".
Money raised so far has been through a sponsored wine-tasting, an entrepreneur challenge where 120 Lloyds TSB colleagues were given £10 each in January 2008 and have raised £18000 from various projects using their £10s and an intrepid band of cyclists rode from London and Jersey to Geneva between 5th and 17th June - a journey of 1000km, 70 hours in the saddle and 500,000 pedal strokes. The cyclists were: Paul McDonnell, Nigel Ware, Nigel J-F, Debbie Mills, Manuel Ostheider, Mike Ferguson, James Sturt-Scobie, Wayne Meenagh and Brendan Peilow.
