Story
The Deloitte Ride Across Britain involves cycling more than 1,000 miles over 9 days to raise money for Paralympics GB. We will be starting at the crack of dawn on Saturday 12th June 2010 in John O’Groats in and will finish on Sunday 20th June at Land’s End in .
Our target of £4000 would be enough to provide a place for an athlete on a 6 month talent transition programme which will support getting them on to a sport pathway programme and may put them in the frame for 2012 selection.
We'll be cycling as a relay team of 3 accompanied by Mark Bennett of Stocktrade who will be driving our support vehicle, following us the 115 or so miles that we'll complete each day.
We've been training for the last 5 months or so in preparation. Although Paul is a keen triathlete and cyclist, neither Greg nor Alissa have cycled competitively before. When we are not cycling we can be found in Legal (Greg and Alissa) and in MI and Reporting (Paul), all based in Brewin Dolphin’s office. The Charity The British Paralympic team produced an incredible performance in , finishing second overall behind hosts and winning an incredible 102 medals, 42 of them gold. With the next summer Games on home soil, we now have a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire the British public, changing the way people with a disability are perceived through the exceptional performances of our athletes, and improving the opportunities they have to participate in sports at all levels. We would be extremely grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to donate to our fundraising effort through Just Giving – it will help inspire us for every one of the 1010 miles of the journey! Many thanks for your support, Alissa, Greg and Paul.
