Story
21 women from IBM are off to build a house in Africa for children orphaned by aids
Almost a third of all women attending ante-natal clinics have the HIV virus. In turn the number of orphans is escalating as a generation of parents are wiped out. Every 15 seconds another child is orphaned by AIDS. This results in many children being left to head up families, with no place to live, and end up as street children, with no love and support.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. In many parts of the country people want help, but help to help themselves long term. They want to be able to stay together and look after these children in extended families, and prevent them growing up on the street, or in orphanages.
Therefore in June this year 21 women from IBM are travelling to the area of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, with a charity called Habitat for Humanity, to help build homes for families affected by HIV/Aids. We will work along side local women and tradesmen, and together we will use local material to build one complete house.
To do this we need to raise money to pay for the material to build the house, to buy local labour, and to help Habitat for Humanity continue building homes all over the world. Any donation you make will go a long way to help make a difference for these children. All the money goes directly to this project. So please sponsor us now and help us make a difference.
And thank you for visiting out 'Building Futures' fund-raising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
Many thanks for your support.
