Story
Reach for the stars in 2021 by signing up the BCHC Charity 2021 Challenge! You can choose to run, walk or cycle throughout 2021 to raise funds for BCHC Charity as well as earning your very own Nova star medals. Collect the whole set; 21 miles will get you a bronze, 42 a silver, and 63 a gold medal. You could even try for our Ultimate Platinum Nova by hitting a whopping 202.1 miles throughout the year!
You can keep track of and update your donors on your progress by posting regular updates, or linking your FitBit/Garmin device (if you have one) to your fundraising page through Strava. The 2021 Challenge is designed so that anyone at any fitness level can take part, by offering different ways to achieve 4 distance milestones at your own pace. As you reach each milestone, you can claim your certificate and Nova medal, and you can keep going to collect up to 4 medals.
You can choose to raise money for a specific fund or appeal, such as our End of Life Appeal, or raise money for the general fund which can be accessed by any BCHC service. Birmingham Community Healthcare (BCHC) NHS Foundation Trust provides community health services across the city; from health visiting to palliative care, rehabilitation centres to bedded units, dental care to learning disabilities services, and much more! BCHC cares for patients of all ages across the city.
BCHC Charity's mission is to enhance patient experience and improve their time within the care of BCHC services by funding the extras that are not covered by the core NHS funds. These extras are the sorts of things that bring a smile to our patients and their families and carers, and can range from smaller things like books, toys and toiletries all the way up to huge projects like our therapeutic playground for children with prosthetic limbs. We've renovated garden areas, funded beautiful murals, thrown festive parties with food, drink and gifts, provided sensory lighting spaces, entertained patients with music, magic and days out, and loads more! By taking part in the 2021 Challenge, you'll be helping us continue in our mission to enhance patient experience and support our Team BCHC colleagues.
