Story
For almost two decades the Woking Rotary Swimathon has brought together local schools, businesses, clubs, families and friends to make a real difference in our community.
Now in its 19th year, the Swimathon has raised more than £250,000 for local charities and community organisations. Last year alone, over 300 swimmers took part, raising more than £18,000.
Whether you're swimming with colleagues, classmates, friends or family, every length you complete helps support organisations providing vital care, emergency response and practical assistance to people across our area.
How the Swimathon works
60 teams take part throughout the day.
Each team can have up to six swimmers.
Every team is allocated a lane for a 55-minute session.
Only one swimmer is in the water at any one time, so participants simply take turns.
Most swimmers complete between 10 and 20 lengths, although everyone contributes whatever they're comfortable swimming.
The emphasis is on taking part, not breaking records.
The charities you'll be supporting
Every pound raised stays close to home, supporting local charities and community organisations selected by Woking Rotary Club.
Previous beneficiaries have included:
Woking & Sam Beare Hospices
Woking Community First Responders
SERV Surrey & London
and many other local charities making a real difference every day.
