Story

"It's amazing seeing the kid's in their sit-skis experiencing and loving the slopes as we do. They get a level of independence and freedom skiing that they don't get anywhere else"

Claire & Alison

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on all our lives. Disabled people, who routinely experience problems of access in everyday life, have faced even greater challenges than most. The loss of local services together with extended periods of isolation have taken their toll on physical and mental health. Skiing and snowboarding is helping people rebuild fitness, wellbeing and confidence.

Disability Snowsport UKs dream is of mountains and slopes free from barriers, where disabled people can learn and take part with family and friends and peers. We work to remove barriers so that snowsport is accessible for everyone; regardless of disability, injury or experience

We know at least 50 reasons on why we love snowsports, after seeing fantastic skiers and snowboarders changing their lives through the slopes. We are determined to continue implementing those changes for people with support of our expert instructors and staff. Therefore we are asking YOU to help us on the journey of allowing more people to find their own 50 reasons for loving our favourite winter sport.

Why don't you follow our 5 easy social media steps?

Simply:

1. Share your 5 reasons for snowsports

2. Donate £5 (or what you can) to DSUK appeal

3. Nominate 5 people to do the same!

Your donations will help cover the slope fees, instructors and other costs that are at the heart of providing lessons and groups for adaptive skiers and snowboarders. Please give the gift of joy and wellbeing this winter.

£5 could pay for cleaning equipment to keep our lessons save

If 2 people donate £5 - could pay for an hour of dry slope time

If 6 people donate £5 - can subsidise a lesson for one child or adult

If 2 people donate £50 - could pay for a group lesson for a family to learn together

£500 - Helps DSUK give more independence to bi-skiers with riggers

If 2 people donate £500 - Allows DSUK to purchase seat for Junior sit skis so children can enjoy the skiing experience

If 500 people donate £5 - Enables more DSUK schools to engage wheelchair users by purchasing a set of sit skis

There are many ways to help, for example:

1. Simply donate to DSUK appeal

2. Join one of the exciting winter fundraising events:

First National Snowathon or 11km Mountain Challenge

We are deeply grateful for your support of Disability Snowsport UK.
