Walk With Us To Dhaka This July For Garment Workers In Bangladesh
This summer, we’re taking on something big. The distance from the UK to Dhaka is 5,775 miles, and together we’re going to walk, or roll, every single one of them.
Every step you take is a step commemorating the solidarity of the past and looking forward to the solidarity of the future.
Choose the option that suits you best:
One week challenge: 8.25 miles per day, 16,500 steps per day.
Two-week challenge: 4.12 miles per day, 8,200 steps per day.
Three-week challenge: 2.75 miles per day, 5,775 steps per day.
You’ll have the full month of July to complete your miles. And you don't need to be in the UK if you want to take part. If you have any mobility issues please choose to cover the distance in any way that feels comfortable.
We'd love everyone to connect Strava to their JustGiving page so we can track our collective progress and see how close we’re getting to Dhaka each day.
Beautiful Prize
To say thank you, everyone who completes this challenge will receive a beautiful commemorative metal pin designed by artist Sonia Uddin, which includes '5775' in Bangla script.
To register, you simply pledge to either raise, or donate, £57.75 to support Labour Behind the Label’s crucial work supporting garment workers in Bangladesh.
Step-by-step we will fight together for a fashion industry where exploitation has no place.
Why Take Part
Bangladesh is the world's second largest garment exporter and yet garment workers in Dhaka still face poverty wages, unsafe conditions and exploitation. By walking and fundraising, you will directly help us fight for:
- A living wage for all workers
- Safe factories
- Trade union rights
- A fashion industry that values people as much as profit
This is your chance to stand up for fashion justice — one mile at a time.
