The ceiling in our function room has become damaged and all of our groups and events have had to be cancelled, until it can be repaired. Your much needed donations will help pay to fix the room so that we can reopen for local people with deafness.

Our function room is the main room in our centre and provides a safe and accessible space for people with deafness, to socialise, learn and have fun. The room has a bar, kitchen and entertainment facilities. Since we moved into the centre, in 1973, it has been used regularly by our groups and other services.

Philip, Chairman of the Sports & Social Club, who use the room each week, said:

"The room is hugely valuable for our group and our members were really upset to find out it had been closed. We love using the room to regularly meet up with other people with deafness, in an environment where we feel comfortable.

I have seen myself how people's skills and confidence have grown by attending the club. Without access to the room our members are at risk of feeling like there is nowhere for them to go. "

Your support will help fund the repair costs of our roof. The room plays an important part of the services that we offer at Bolton Deaf Society. This year we are celebrating our 150th year as an organisation, providing social groups and activities, one-to-one support and deaf awareness. Update on our Raise the Roof Appeal

We are pleased to report that the first stage of repairs, to the roof of our function room, have recently been completed. We have therefore been able to reopen the room, so that it can be used by all of our social groups and activities.

Further work is now needed on our roof to ensure that it remains future-proof for many years to come. Any support you can give to cover these costs will make a real difference.
