Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the country's largest maternity providers, supporting the births of over 10,000 babies each year. We are committed to ensuring pregnant women in our care can choose the kind of birth the feel would be best for them, have a personalised experience tailored to their needs and will have continuity in their carers throughout the maternity journey.

We are also equally committed to ensuring we support the whole multi-disciplinary team to support each other and the women using our service during this very challenging time. We will also use this fund to provide an enhanced food, comfort and wellbeing support offer for staff.

With the COVID-19 outbreak, we are still seeing the same numbers of women but with an increase in the number of those choosing home births. In response, we have put creative solutions in place to support women giving birth at home and in the provision of care before and after birth. This includes increased deployment of our updated Mum and Baby app, further provision of digital remote communication and consultation tools, jaundice monitoring technology to use in the community, blood pressure machines for home monitoring in complex pregnancies and working with ambulance services to support mothers and babies who need clinical support in our hospital following a home birth or in the case of an emergency.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on maternity care across the country. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the few trusts in the UK still providing these services.To support this novel extended programme for the next four months, increase our digital capacity and support our dedicated maternity teams, hospital charity CW+ has been asked to secure a minimum of £300,000 in charitable support.
