On Saturday 3rd September 2022, there'll be Dragons on the Tyne...
Newcastles 3rd annual Dragon Boat Race will see teams of brave paddlers competing in a full day of splash-filled fun, whilst also raising funds to support CHUF (Children's Heart Unit Fund), who are there for Heart Families when they need it most.
Support the superheroes taking on this challenge and help CHUF to reach the ambitious £30,000 target, which could help to pay for incredible services such as the Clown Doctor Programme, which not only raises smiles from seriously poorly children recieving treatment on the Heart Unit, but supports a range of barriers that these children face. From encouraging children to eat and move pre and post-surgery, helping children to feel empowered and play an active role in their own recovery, to combatting feelings of isolation which can take hold when you're spending weeks and months in hospital- the Clown Doctors are so much more than therapeutic play specialists. To many, they're a life line. Providing a trusted a friendly ear, they spread joy and hope at a time that might feel very dark.
Teams involved in this thrilling challenge might get wet, but they and everyone that gets behind them WILL warm hearts all year through!
