Working with local schools and initiatives we are committed to enabling vulnerable children to attend school —empowering them with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to reach their full potential. Today, we are changing tomorrow for children who are often unseen and unheard.

Story

Something amazing has been going on at Otacho in rural South West Kenya. Many years ago a compassionate couple decided to take care of some of the orphans within their poor community.

There are now fifty one orphaned children being cared for at Otacho Childrens Home. They are offered love and security, food, clothes and the chance to be part of a larger family. This compassionate couple have faced many challenges along the way, but the joy of seeing vulnerable children thriving is their reward.

A good education is a treasured possession for most Kenyan children. All around them they see the impact which a lack of education produces. Primary education is now free in Kenya so 93% of children aged 6-13 attend a primary school, but only 53% attend Secondary School, many drop out before they have completed all four years.

Secondary education however is only partially funded by the government; there are still substantial fees to pay in addition to shoes, uniform, sports kits, text books, stationary, field trip costs etc. Funding this for the children is impossible for our compassionate couple.

Education is one thing no one can take away from you. Elin Nordegren

Our vision is to provide all fifty one orphans the opportunity to attend Secondary School. It will take them along a road where dreams of a good job and a productive future come into focus. We want each child to leave their marginalised past behind and know they can reach for the stars.

We are running this campaign to raise £25,000 which will enable ten children to attend Secondary School for four years.

Why not join us in championing a child through Secondary School by taking part in our School Run Challenge, as a fundraiser or by making a donation.

Thank you for reading our story and hearing our hearts.
