Story

Riverside and Church Homeless Trust share roots going back nearly 140 years. We continue working towards our shared aim to provide personalised care and support for those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. This long association and shared values is what makes this charity partnership extra special.

At Church Homeless Trust we believe that every homeless person has their own needs and dreams, their own story - their own struggle. That is why we give personalised grants, tailored to their circumstances to help them get back on their feet.

The majority of the grants we give are to people in Riverside schemes. It is through this partnership that we are able to reach the people who most need our help. And Riversides customers have access to funding for the items and extra support they need to establish a home of their own.

Riverside is the largest provider of supported housing for people affected by homelessness in the UK. We share the understanding of the trauma and misfortune homeless people experience and the great need they face. Like staff at Riverside, day to day we hear sad stories of pain, suffering and poverty. We read stories about loss, family breakdowns, severe physical and mental health problems and many more unfortunate circumstances that people find themselves facing.

At the same, our shared strength lies in the person-centred approach. While Riverside staff are busy focussing on the rehabilitation and recovery of homeless people, we are busy raising funds that enable them to take the next steps into independence. Together we strive to enable people to make a successful transition from homelessness to a settled home of their own.

We are immensely proud of our link to Riverside and of our joint achievements for homeless people over so many decades.

This charity partnership means that we can achieve even more for homeless people this year. So, knowing what you do about the challenges homeless people face, we hope you are inspired to; put your gloves on, roll up you sleeves, get your bicycle out of the shed, put your running or hiking shoes on, get your swimming gear out, get your baking trays out, and lets all come together to do what we have always done together rebuilding broken lives!

Whatever you choose to do, just know that here at Church Homeless Trust we are rooting for you, cheering and egging you on to do fantastically at raising funds that will change many lives for the better.
