310,000 STEPS. 1 MONTH. STEP UP FOR GIRLS RIGHTS TODAY.

Date: Saturday 1 October 2022 - Monday 31 October 2022

Distance: 310,000 steps, which is 10,000 steps a day

Location: Anywhere

Fundraising target: suggested £150 and once you raise your first £50 (excluding Gift Aid), we will send you a special edition girls rights tote bag.

WHY GIRLS

Despite years of progress so many girls across the world are still being undervalued, undermined and underestimated. Held back by damaging gender stereotypes, harassed in public and even sometimes married as children. Often, even survival is harder for girls. By taking on Step up for Girls you'll be raising funds for girls and young women around the world who deserve an equal chance in life to thrive.

- £9 is enough to send a girl to school in Nicaragua for a month.

- £12 could provide a dignity kit to a girl in Mozambique so they can manage their periods the way they choose. The kit contains items such as reusable period pads, pairs of underwear, soaps for washing clothes and bathing, a bag, and nail clippers.

- £55 is enough to support a Positive Parents group in Tanzania for a year, building up parents as allies against FGM and child marriage.

310,000 steps won't be suitable for everyone, so we encourage you to adapt the challenge to suit your ability. Walk, run or wheel 236km (the equivalent of 310,000 steps) or choose a distance which allows you to Step Up for Girls rights your way- it really is the taking part that counts.
