Story

Step Up For Brain Injury

Approximately 150,000 people in Ireland are living with a brain injury today.

We are asking you to take on the challenge and walk 150,000 steps between January 1st and 31st.

You can begin the new year in a great way that will not only be good for your own physical and mental health but will benefit brain injury survivors as you raise funds for Acquired Brian Injury Ireland.

You can help rebuild lives after brain injury. Empowering people to live to their full potential. That's what Acquired Brian Injury Ireland can do with your support.

We passionately serve and relentlessly advocate to empower and support people impacted by brain injury to rebuild their lives. We want a society where brain injury is understood and all those impacted receive world-class, personalised rehabilitation and support, as and when they need it.

Record your steps on your smartphone downloading a free step recording pedometer app or if you have one record your steps on your smartwatch or Fitbit.

If you don't have a smartwatch and want to use your phone to record your steps you should install a pedometer app for Android or Apple.

Examples of recommended apps are:

On the Google Play store : Pedometer - Step Counter

On the Apple App store : Pedometer & Step Counter

Make sure you follow the rules and regulations regarding Covid 19 and keep you and your community safe. This will mean only taking part in the challenge with your household and ensuring you socially distance with the public whilst completing your challenge.

Record all your steps :

Start 2021 right by getting out for a walk every day. Keep to the Covid-19 safety guidelines and go walking in your local area by yourself, with family or household members or maybe walking the dog.

Get friends and family to sign up and fundraise too and do this together with your household or virtually with those outside it

You can also record your steps indoors even just walking around your house or going up and down stairs. Also, you might be surprised by how many steps you take if you are at work.

Just get the steps whenever and wherever you can?

We are asking everyone to start by setting your target at 150. If you reach your target you can review and increase it.
