The Thomas Theyer Foundation (TTF) was set up following the death of Thomas Samuel Theyer in 2013 and became a registered charity in 2015.

The focus of the charity is the Physical and Mental Health of its beneficiaries: Children and Young People (CYP) with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those experiencing Difficult Life Circumstances (DLC) and their families.

In addition to providing Outdoor Activities for these CYP, in 2021 the charity launched its Counselling service, providing one to one mental health support.

The rise in mental health difficulties in CYP is both nationally and locally recognised. As is the pressure this puts on services. The Thomas Theyer Foundation works to provide early intervention for and in doing this, reduce more serious long term mental health difficulties.

In 2018 we opened our Sports and Outdoor Charity shop at 1, London Road, Buxton. This unique shop has become a feature of the town and offers affordable sports and outdoor clothing and equipment. Above the shop, accessed by a separate entrance, is an apartment. We now have the opportunity to purchase this building, which, not only would secure tenure of our shop, but in the longer term could provide us with the space for our offices and development of our Therapeutic Services.

Our counselling service has provided over 800 counselling sessions, supporting over 100 CYP (between the ages of 6 and 18) in the High Peak area, since the service was launched in 2021. Without our service many of these CYP would not have received any mental health support locally. We have also created outdoor activities for over 300 children to help support mental health and wellbeing.

We need to raise £175,000 to complete the purchase of 1 London Road. It's a lot of money, but if you can spare any amount please donate. With the purchase of 1 London Rd it enables us to develop our charitable activities further including additional space for one to one counselling, group sessions and much more.
