Story
We're sad to share that our minibus is not currently roadworthy following an attempted theft while it was parked outside Prestonpans Community Centre, where we have been supporting adults with learning disabilities over the past 10 years.
This will greatly impact on our ability to run trips for our students while repairs are underway, and this is a vital part of what we do. We are working hard to obtain a replacement vehicle that meets our students accessibility requirements so we can continue trips in the community and beyond over the coming weeks, including our planned visit to the Trimonteum Museum in Melrose.
Following posting on social media about this, we have had generous offers from our community to help fund the cost of a replacement vehicle while we wait for the repairs to be complete. We are unsure on a timescale for this but know for planned trips in the next 2 weeks we need in the region of £500 to proceed, anything over this amount will cover hire costs until our minibus is returned or will be allocated towards future trips for our students.
Thank you for all your supportive messages, we are thrilled to have such a fantastic community around Upmo.
Upmo is a charity providing support and opportunity to adults with learning disabilities and autism throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians.
