Story
Wolverhampton is a welcoming place and is home to people from around the world. But, some people arrive here having experienced the trauma of war and violence, and often difficult and dangerous journeys. These people have had to leave their home and loved ones to seek sanctuary in our city. They arrive with few belongings, have no family or friends ro draw on, and receive less than £6 per day to pay for daily needs like travel, clothing and food.
Giving a Christmas gift to an asylum seeker or refugee is a lovely way to help rebuild lives and to make people feel welcome.
This year at Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary we are planning to give gifts to Sanctuary Seekers at a party at our weekly Drop-In so that they can enjoy the spirit of Christmas with us. We will give children up to 13 years a box or bag of small gifts (toys, games, books, clothes). The request is for a bag/box of new or as new items up to a value of about £15. Young people and adults will be given gift vouchers - £15 value. Please give generously so that we can give to all who come.
