Most of the country's 22 million population live in clusters in the south and west. Climate change, desertification, and inadequate public health services have left hundreds of thousands of older people with limited or zero access to eye care.
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN?
An estimated 20 million people across Africa are blind or visually impaired, more than 75% of which is entirely avoidable. This is an urgent problem that needs an immediate solution."
