Story

Age UK Bradford District are working hard to develop our vision to make Bradford District a great place for people in later life, by valuing everyones future, developing age friendly communities and putting people first.

From now until the end of March we are running our Annual Appeal and your support would be hugely appreciated.

We have some great fundraising opportunities for you to get involved in during our appeal.

All the money that we generate goes towards delivering the services for older people across Bradford District that they have told us they need. The things that make their lives better. The things that make them happier.

Get involved!

February 19th: Annual Appeal launch

February 19th: Coffee and cake at our Wrose shop. Come in for some cake, a hot drink and find out more about the upcoming activities.

February 19th: The Buddy game starts (All shops). Where's Buddy? £1 to pick a place in the district, when the board is complete, if you correctly find Buddy you win the jackpot!

March 6th: Day of Unplugging. Turn off those mobile phones and tablets, get sponsorship to pledge to go an hour, 3 hours, half a day or even a WHOLE DAY without using them. You can pay a fine for any occasion you break your own pledge!

March 7th: Walk of Ages . Join our team or make a donation for our marathon walk covering 26.2 miles as we travel from Baildon to Keighley via the scenic route and all our shops! There's also a shorter version if you'd prefer something a little less challenging!

March 14th: 70s Night (Eccleshill) . A night of fun, food and funk. Dress up and dance to the sounds of the 70s!

March 20th: International Day of Happiness . Wear it bright, be happy and raise money for Age UK Bradford District.

Your support will count.

There are currently over 9,000 lonely older people living across Bradford District. Our teams work with as many individuals as possible, listening and talking to people to find out what would make a real difference in their lives. Last year we were able to work with 5,500 lonely older people in the area. We would like to work with more.

Your support would help us to:

Create THREE new Lunch Clubs for ONE HUNDRED older people (Target - £1,500)

Support ONE HUNDRED older people with new Home Buddies (Target - £1,250)

Support TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY older people with new Telephone Buddies (target - £750)

Secondly, daily exercise helps us all to stay strong and healthy, can boost self-esteem, improve sleep, and give you more energy. We supported activity sessions for 250 older people last year and we would like to support more.

Your support would help us to:

Create THREE new Activity Groups for ONE HUNDRED older people (Target - £1,500)

Events such as bereavement or a diagnosis of health conditions, divorce or retirement can have a major impact on an individuals wellbeing and without the correct support it can result in crisis. In these cases our information and advice team will work with individuals to identify a person centred package of support to enable and support people to move forward.

Your support would help us to:

Support FIFTY older people who are in crisis (Target - £5,000)

However you can get involved, your support will be gratefully appreciated and it will help Age UK Bradford continue to help the older people in the district live their best lives.
