45 Miles for 45,000 Lives

45,000 lives lost in a decade to failing drug policies. Not inevitable - preventable. This October, we are coming together to honour those we've lost, raise awareness, and fundraise for the safer drug policy that can finally turn this number around.

Story

45 Miles in October

45 miles. One month. One movement that can change everything.

Over the past 10 years in the UK, more than 45,000 people have lost their lives to drug policy failures. That number isn't fixed. It isn't inevitable. It's a statistic we can start to change, and this October, we're doing exactly that.

Behind every one of those 45,000 lives was a person: someone's child, brother, sister, parent, friend, loved one. Their deaths were preventable. And that's exactly why we won't stop pushing for a safer, more compassionate approach to drugs.

This October, the Anyone's Child community is coming together for something powerful. 45 miles, one for every thousand lives lost, walked, run or cycled in whatever way works for you. Every mile is a tribute. Every pound raised fuels our campaign for the policy change that could stop this number from growing.

We know change is possible, because we've seen what happens when communities like ours refuse to stay silent. Policies shift. Minds open. Lives are saved. But we can't do it without you.

Sign up. Lace up. Raise what you can. Let's turn 45,000 reasons for grief into 45 miles of hope and prove that together, we can rewrite this statistic for good.

Take on the challenge

Walk, run or cycle 45 miles throughout October.

It doesn't matter how you do the distance. Walk a little every day. Take on a few longer routes. Run with friends. Cycle to work. However you choose to reach 45 miles, every mile counts.

And every mile you move and every pound you raise will help Anyone’s Child campaign for drug laws that put people’s lives and safety first.

Why 45 miles?

The number 45 represents the 45,000 people who have died due to our failing drug policies in the UK over the past decade.

This challenge is about remembering the people behind that number, but it’s also about showing that change is possible.

Together we can do it.

Will you join us?
