Years and Years have been wasted, let's not waste a second more.

For 3 years children in Mosul have lost out on education due to the conflict in Iraq.

88% of children used to get educated before the city was captured and destroyed by IS and only 12% of them attend now that the city has been liberated.

Parents are too afraid to send their children to school due to the danger that these broken down schools possess. School structures, roofs and walls are too fragile and barely standing due to being hit by mortar and shell rockets.

What once used to be classrooms is now a pile of rubble. Sections of schools are cordoned off for safety with tape reading unexploded bomb. Classrooms are full of shrapnel, debris and other equipment of war left behind after the conflict. To remove and clear this takes money that the Iraqi people just cannot afford right now.

HRF are helping pupils who have suffered deliberate attacks of their basic rights to an education by rebuilding schools in Iraq. The goal is big, achievable but big and the long term lasting effect is powerful for generations to come.

There are too many pupils cramped in one classroom in a desperate attempt to keep education alive. Teachers are trying their utmost best to make sure the education for children continues but it is very difficult as the surroundings of the school affects the pupils. It is a constant reminder of what they have been through. We want to remove this awful reminder, clear the schools and clear the mind of the children so he or she may look to a clearer, more pleasant and successful future.

Helping children recover from the effects of war can only succeed if the reminder of what they went through are swept away.
