Thank you for seeking advice about bats from the Bat Conservation Trust! In the UK, bat populations have declined considerably over the last century and bats are still under threat from losing their homes. Sometimes, the work we do to maintain our buildings can be dangerous to bats if they are not carefully planned. Thankfully, there is hope!

People working in, living in, and managing buildings with bats have a special role to play in protecting bat roosts. Seeking advice from the National Bat Helpline about how to carry out important maintenance works, safeguard and enhance local bat habitats, or manage any issues you may be experiencing with bats is a wonderful contribution to protecting your local wildlife. We need your help if we are to continue supporting people like you to protect bats.

The advice you have received is partly thanks to funds from Natural England and is also supported by a team of trained volunteers. The Natural England funding helps with a lot of our running costs although it does not cover everything. We urgently need funds to ensure the National Bat Helpline can continue to provide advice. We are a small, dedicated team advising close to 15,000 people every year. We are able to help over 90% of the people who contact us to resolve their query. With your support, we can continue to save thousands of bats and their roosts every year by providing this valuable service.

We need your help. Please donate and help us to continue our vital work. Your donation, no matter the size, will enable us to support the people who contact us in the future and save bats.

Its critically important that this service is maintained and improved in order to make sure we dont lose the huge gains made in bat conservation over the last decade. - Chris Packham, Bat Conservation Trust President
