Baby Bank Network Bristol redistributes pre-loved items for babies and children to families in need across Bristol and the surrounding area. We also give out some new items such as toiletries, nappies and cot mattresses.

We work with local referral partners (health visitors, social workers, and other statutory and voluntary agencies) who apply on the family's behalf, collect and deliver the items to the families.

Our service helps to ensure that no family with a new baby or young child goes without the essential items needed to keep the children safe and well. This reduces the financial burden on families and can help lead to an improvement in mental well-being, lower anxiety, and increased ability to focus on other aspects of home life.

Before Covid-19 we were helping approximately 40 families per week, but towards the end of 2022 we had our busiest week ever with 76 referrals. By January 2023 we had redistributed over 26,000 items to over 6,500 families. Referrals are increasing at a rate that we haven't seen before.

On Sunday 14 May, some of our incredible supporters will be putting on their trainers and making their way through the streets of Bristol, raising money to help us to continue providing this much needed service for families in Bristol. With 10k, half marathon and family run routes available.

"Ive only run one 10K in my life and that was back in 2017. It was so much fun to take part with other Baby Bank Network supporters and volunteers. There was no pressure and we all ran at our own pace waving at each other when passing by. The atmosphere was fantastic and even though the run was hard for me, it was such an amazing feeling to finish, and get together again at the end of the race to take a photo with all our medals.

As soon as I saw the Great Bristol Run was back this May, I had no hesitation to enter. I run every now and then (but am not very constant), as it gives me some "me" time. Im very passionate about Baby Banks mission, so it makes total sense to put the two things together. Running forces me to get out, breathe fresh air and I have never regretted a run.after it's done!
