Story
Spending the winter in a healthcare setting can be lonely and frustrating, and BCHC Charity believe it is more important than ever to help brighten the winter period for those under BCHC care.
Each year, BCHC Charity spends over £10,000 on Christmas gifts for inpatients of all ages and children of vulnerable families accessing BCHC Children's & Families services, as well as providing decorations, festive activities, and entertainment. We're committed to doing everything we can support the wellbeing of our patients, service users, and colleagues across BCHC.
By donating to our Spread the Sparkle Winter Appeal, you will be helping us to provide much-needed morale boosters, gifts, treats, entertainment, and relaxation items for those under our care this winter. We've been working closely with team leads and department heads to ensure that we can provide exactly what is needed to help support wellbeing and relieve stress and boredom during this difficult time of the year.
£5 could buy a gift for a patient spending Christmas under BCHC care
£20 could fund colouring supplies and board games for wards, to help reduce boredom and anxiety during winter months
£100 could provide one of our children's services with toys and gifts for vulnerable families
£500 could cover musical entertainment for patients and staff on inpatient units
One mum of two who received toys from the Perry Barr Health Visiting Team in December 2024 said, “I have wrapped them up and put with love from Father Christmas. It has made the tree look lovely and I’m so pleased they all have something to open. I didn’t think that was going to be the case this year. Thank you for your support!”
BCHC Charity is the official charity supporting Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We fund equipment, research and facilities not part of core NHS services. Your support helps us provide the 'extras' that bring a smile to patients who access our services and enhance their experience under our care.
