Story
I have so much to say about my time at the Booth Centre because it’s been nothing short of life-changing. I first came to the Centre just looking for a hot meal while I was homeless, sleeping in my car, and battling with low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I didn’t know then that this place would become such an important part of my journey. From my very first couple of visits, people made me feel seen, comfortable, and genuinely welcome. That human connection made all the difference. With help, I was able to secure accommodation. The kindness I received during those tough times reminded me of my worth. Volunteering gave me purpose. Whether it was preparing meals with Clare in the kitchen, serving guests, or simply being present for others …. it gave me a sense of contentment and meaning. Even when I had little, I could still give something. That feeling is hard to describe but deeply fulfilling. I’ve also had the chance to grow through other opportunities like the CSCS course, training for the football charity match with Jason, and taking part in philosophy sessions... each one building my confidence and helping me find myself again. Now, I’m currently doing a course that aligns with my long-term career goals, and for the first time in a while, I feel truly hopeful about the future. I believe I’ll become a better person because the universe brought me to the Booth Centre when I needed it most. -M
