Story
Why it matters
The British Horse Society exists to improve the lives of horses and the people who care for them. That means protecting horse welfare, supporting safer bridleways and riding routes, offering education and qualifications, and helping riders of all ages feel confident and supported. Every day, our work reaches stables, yards, schools and communities across the UK.
When someone steps forward to ride in a charity race, they’re not just taking on a physical challenge. They’re standing up for safer riding, kinder horsemanship and better lives for horses everywhere.
The story behind the challenge
Training for this race is demanding. Riders must learn to balance strength with sensitivity, speed with control, adrenaline with calm. They’re coached, supported and encouraged, but the hard graft is completely their own. There’s no shortcut to getting race-fit, and no hiding place on the start line.
What keeps them going is the knowledge that every stride they take, every fear they conquer and every early morning they endure helps push the mission of the British Horse Society further.
How your fundraising helps
Your donation directly supports:
• Welfare officers working to protect horses from neglect and mistreatment.
• The creation and safeguarding of safe riding routes across towns, villages and countryside.
• BHS education programmes that build knowledge, confidence and safe practice for riders and owners.
• Campaigns that give horse owners and riders a stronger voice.
Every pound strengthens the safety net we provide for horses and riders. And it gives our race day riders a huge lift knowing they’re not doing this alone.
By supporting our Charity Race Day, you’re backing the grit of our riders and the mission of the British Horse Society. If you can, please donate. Cheer them on. Share their story. And help us continue making a real difference for horses and riders everywhere.
