Story
The event:
Bidwells Oxford 10k is the oldest run in our Town and Gown series. Inspired by a local boy Daniel Cleaver who had muscular dystrophy, it started in 1982. Daniel’s father and local runners set up the event as a fun run to raise money for muscular dystrophy and to this day all profits still go to our work.
This is the only closed road 10K race in Oxford and offers a unique opportunity to run on city roads amidst Oxford’s scenic landmarks and historic charm. The course also features beautiful stretches through the city’s parks and alongside its rivers.
All profits from the event go to Muscular Dystrophy UK.
The cause:
Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) is the charity for the 110,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. There's no cure, it limits and, in many cases, shortens lives. MDUK funds groundbreaking research into treatments and cures, as well as life-changing support for individuals and families living with these conditions across the UK.
Join us, and help change the future of muscle-wasting conditions. Because our muscles matter. And together, we are stronger.
