Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

Bryn Siriol is a respite service.

It’s a 3-bedroom bungalow for 18-70 year olds. The service currently supports 25 regular individuals. While in use those staying get to enjoy a range of activities, designed to feel like a holiday for them.

Funding is needed to replace the the current sensory room at Bryn Siriol which is now unusable.

Having a functioning sensory room is important because they create a calming and safe space for individuals to explore their senses, develop social and coping skills and support long term emotional wellbeing.

The proposed new facility will offer sensory support and will be dedicated to Jan Kench a well know and much loved local Mencap campaigner, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

The aim is to have the sensory room ready for Mencap Cymru’s 80th anniversary in January 2026.

So please help us raise £25,000 to provide amazing facilities for the people we support. We are doing many amazing things to fundraise, including a sky dive, collections and fun days! Please donate what you can.
