Bury Hospice is at the heart of the community. We provide essential care and services to people who are living with life limiting conditions and their families and friends, all completely free of charge. The direct funding we do receive covers 17% of our costs, we have to find the missing 87% ourselves. Costs such as the oxygen our patients breathe which is £1,000 per month. Home visits, which are free but cost £25+ each visit. We are the smallest area within Manchester but manage to support over 80 to a 100 people in their own homes with our superb Outpatient team. There are 12 beds but only 8 are open, due to funding, at our wonderful Inpatient unit, which is open 365 days a year. Where special mattresses which must be replaced every 18-20 months cost over £2,000 each.
